Coal From Hades: The Story of Les Mouches Fantastique

  • Theatre Aquarius 190 King William Street Hamilton, ON, L8R 1A8 Canada (map)

Montreal, 1938: being queer is a criminal offense and WWII is looming on the horizon. Roswell George Mills and his one-time lover Graeme Davis share memories of Les Mouches Fantastiques, the first queer magazine published in North America that they helped create. Tales of libertine Germany, their steamy love affair in 1919 and friendship with poet Elsa Gidlow add spice to a story that might be little-known, but that forever changed the face of LGBTQ history.
