NEXT STAGE THEATRE FESTIVAL

Snack Music Builds a Quaint Community

As a part of Next Stage Theatre Festival's Antechamber Series comes SNAFU’s Snack Music. Unlike the other shows I’ve seen this year at the festival, the stories from this play come from the audience members themselves.

Brave audience members can share a short story about their lives and puppeteers Ingrid Hansen and Andrew Young will reenact said story with what seems like an endless supply of props.

The story is accompanied by Steve Chmilar performing a live, improvised soundtrack to go along with the story.

The performers put on a fantastic show; Hansen and Young’s physical acting and puppetry skills are phenomenal. The three performers put on a very quaint, quirky and enjoyable show, filled with laughs and memories, all in attempt to turn the performance space into a community.

Snack Music runs at the Next Stage Theatre Festival until Jan. 18. For more information, visit http://fringetoronto.com/next-stage-festival/.
